Maritime Instructor:
The Alaska Vocational
Technical Center [AVTEC] in Seward is seeking full time permanent Maritime
Instructors as part of the Alaska Maritime Training Center.
Qualified candidates
should be Master, or Chief Mate, any gross tons or First Class Pilots
(preferred) or, Master 500 gross tons near coastal with a towing
endorsement and three (3) years ship board service as a deck officer in
charge of a navigational watch (minimum). Candidates should have
completed a 40-hour train-the-trainer course which meets STCW and USCG
requirements or be willing to complete such a course within 90 days from
date of hire. Training will be through direct classroom and full mission
bridge simulators.
Additional desirable qualifications include: USCG
license with a Radar Observer Unlimited Endorsement, current FCC GMDSS
Operator or Maintainer license, recent unlimited commercial sea service
as master or mate in a 3-watch system, ship handling experience in
vessels over 1600 GT, experience on a Kongsberger-Norcontrol ship
simulator.
Salary range up to $70K annual DOE, plus
State of Alaska employee benefit package.
